HELP WANTED!

FAQ

We are located in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee, and the main neighborhoods we service are Shorewood, Riverwest, The East Side, Downtown, Whitefish Bay, Glendale, Fox Point, Bay Side, Bayview, St. Francis, Cudahy, River Hills, & Mequon. We will travel further but charge for our travel time. Further travel is usually only a win/win for larger or very niche projects.

The pillars of Erik’s Helping Hands are Honesty, Reliability, and Competence. If the idea of working in this hands-on industry appeals to you, if you’re honest and reliable, and if you are located in Southeastern Wisconsin, then we want to hear from you!

Contact us using “Hands Ready to Help” in the subject line. Briefly tell us what you hope to get by working with Erik’s Helping Hands and what you plan to give. Honestly assess your competence in the types of services we provide. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience because we’re willing to train. We want to hear from you, so please contact us via the contact form of our website.

For most projects we take on, we bill time and materials, rather than fixed pricing. We've chosen this approach because we believe it allows us to focus on providing the most value. It allows us to spend more time being of service than estimating jobs. It lets us easily pivot when something unexpected comes up or your priorities change.

We understand that billing time and materials requires more trust than a fixed price contract. To help we can provide good faith estimates for the work we'll be performing. And if we encounter situations that are likely to change that estimate, we'll let you know right away. We're committed to quality work performed at a work man like rate.

Erik has an engineering degree, and the first five years of his career were in a traditional engineering role. But he also has an entrepreneurial spirit and performed maintenance for 100+ rental units and other homeowners for a combined total of ten years.

He has focused on service to Milwaukee area homeowners for the past three years. Any other help is vetted by Erik before being allowed to work for his clients.

We accept Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, Cash, and Check (if necessary). We may require a small scheduling deposit from new clients to demonstrate commitment to the project before granting a slot in our busy schedule. That deposit is then credited to the first day’s invoice. We collect payment, on-site, at the end of each day’s work. We may require additional funds ahead of the work if we need to source a substantial amount of materials for your project.

To keep our prices competitive by focusing on value delivery, we’ve made the business decision not to schedule free site visits for the purpose of quoting/estimating. Based on your description of the project, we can provide a rough estimate by email. If you include relevant details, photos, and even videos, that will help with the accuracy and precision of the estimate.

We realize this approach requires additional trust from you. Some of our clients choose to initially hire us for small projects and then ask us to look at larger projects while we’re already on-site. You can initiate an estimate by selecting the most appropriate service from our Services menu and then completing that form.

If you’re a new client, please review the services section of our website, choose the service that best fits your project, and then complete the associated form. You can also use our general contact form, but service-specific project forms always get priority. We look forward to hearing about your project!
